Crown Reduction

Crown reduction reduces the overall height and horizontal spread of a tree by selectively pruning branches evenly throughout the crown. It also removes deadwood and crossing branches to reduce the risk of disease and pathogens infecting the tree. Crown reduction can improve a tree’s health, shape, and appearance. During crown reduction about 20 – 25% of the tree’s foliage is removed without altering the tree’s shape.
Crown reduction can be an effective technique for managing trees that have outgrown their space. Combined with regular minimal pruning it can help to keep large, mature trees healthy, safe, and manageable.
