Tree Survey

What is tree survey?

A tree survey is just what it sounds like. A survey of the trees in a defined area, whether that be private, public, or commercial. Sometimes it is for all the trees in the area, or only certain trees that meet certain requirements.

The purpose of a tree survey is to identify, measure, and determine the condition of the trees in that defined area.

Information Received from a Survey:

  • Genus and Species
  • Common Name
  • Diameter at Breast Height (DBH)
  • Map of the trees if requested
  • Number of trees

During the initial survey we will number the trees included, using tags or ribbons, and include them in the report written up along with a map coinciding with said numbers.

Why would you need a tree survey?

There are quite a few, but below are some of the more common reasons a tree survey is conducted:

  • You have construction or a project planned in an area that is populated by several trees of varying sizes and species in a protected area.
  • Ascertaining the number of a certain species of tree on your property and their conditions
  • Local government entity would like to create a database of trees in a public area for identification and maintenance purposes.
